Trump denies that he had an affair with porn star Stormy Daniels. At the same time, he’s suing her to enforce their non-disclosure agreement.
Huh? Why would there have been a non-disclosure agreement about an affair that never happened? Am I missing something?
On a different note, here is a fine quick assessment of the McCabe firing. I agree that McCabe’s full statement is well worth reading

Not necessarily inconsistent: “We never had sex, but she shook me down while I was running for president, so I gave her chump change to go away. She settled cheap because she thought I’d lose. Now she’s welshing on our deal.” Every defendant who settles a civil case insists on a “no admission of liability” clause in the release.
But it won’t matter anyway. He doesn’t want to litigate the “We never had sex” part, and he won’t have to. Whether they had sex would be relevant to a slander claim, but It’s irrelevant to the breach of contract lawsuit that he actually brought.

Yes, not necessarily inconsistent. I was being a bit tongue in cheek. It is possible to think up scenarios in which the non-disclosure agreement is consistent with a non-affair. For example, the mogul and the porn star might have had a purely business arrangement, with Trump offering to finance a porn flick for Daniels. I think that’s about as plausible as your scenario.

I have yet to see any evidence that Donald J. Trump is suing “Stormy Daniels” in any court.
News reports suggest that Michael Cohen, perhaps on behalf of a Delaware LLC he formed, is suing her, and other news reports suggest that a staff attorney employed by the Trump Organization is attempting to play some kind of role in that suit, although this could be just inaccurate reporting.
But it is not clear why any of those persons or entities are entitled to collect damages for breach of a contract between “David Dennison” and “Peggy Peterson”.

Actually, I think your first take was closer to the truth. It’s obvious to everyone that he did have sex with her (to call it an affair seems too precious) and everyone knows it. And the more open the dispute about the $130,000 payment becomes, the more obvious it all is. I’m very much looking forward to learning more about each detail about the payment, why his lawyer made the payment for no apparent reason, and so forth.
It will make a nice counterpoint on side B to the Mueller investigation on side A.

CNN is now reporting that Stormy Daniels took a polygraph test in 2011 and it was judged that she truthfully answered “Yes” to these questions:
“Around July 2006, did you have vaginal intercourse with Donald Trump?,” and “Around July 2006, did you have unprotected sex with Donald Trump?”
So, if you believe that polygraph tests are reliable, her story is supported by the test.
